Bespoke forecasting
“Getting a forecast” is so last-century! You need to know the background, the possibilities, the uncertainties. You need meaningful insight, concise analysis, relevant projections, not a “one-size-fits-all” forecast. Weather apps and computer models are equals for most days. But for the 10–15 days a year when the forecast is genuinely difficult — 50/50 calls, extreme events, critical windows — when money is on the line - expert human judgement makes the difference.
Blue Skies Weather provides customised forecasting for agriculture, infrastructure, events, film and aerial operations. Clients have included Fonterra, Contact Energy, Pernod Ricard, the All Blacks, and major international film productions. Plus a lot of farmers, growers, film makers and planners. Oh, and one dog (true story).
About Tony
Tony Trewinnard founded Blue Skies Weather in 1987, at the time NZ's weather services were transitioning from government department to state-owned enterprise. He built the business on a simple belief: that a dedicated, experienced forecaster could offer a better service than the state.
He still believes it.
Blue Skies Weather was New Zealand's first independent weather consultancy. Others have come and gone, but Blue Skies lives on.
